East Wind (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is an AI-powered American Mahjong coaching app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data we handle. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and your rights.
Chat messages
When you chat with Nai Nai, your messages are sent to our server and forwarded to an AI service (Anthropic) to generate responses. Messages are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after the response is delivered. Your conversation history is saved locally on your device so you can continue where you left off.
Photos of tiles
If you share a photo of your mahjong tiles, the image is sent to our server for AI analysis. Photos are not stored on our servers — they are processed in real time and immediately discarded after the AI response is generated.
Voice responses
Nai Nai's voice responses are generated using a text-to-speech service (ElevenLabs). The text of her responses is sent to the service to produce audio. No voice data from you is collected — the app does not use your microphone.
Subscription information
Subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store via RevenueCat. We receive an anonymous subscriber identifier to verify your subscription status. We do not receive or store your name, email, payment method, or Apple ID.
Advertising and measurement
East Wind is discovered through ads we run on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To understand which ads bring people to the app, we use the Meta SDK, which records a few basic app events — such as installs, app opens, and subscription purchases — and shares them with Meta for advertising measurement. On first launch, iOS asks whether you allow tracking; if you agree, this measurement may include your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). If you decline, attribution still works in a privacy-preserving way through Apple's SKAdNetwork, which does not identify you. We use this only to measure and improve our advertising — your data is never sold. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Your conversation history is stored locally on your device using your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you send a message, at which point only that conversation is transmitted to generate a response. You can clear your conversation at any time using the new conversation button in the app.

Except for the advertising measurement described above, these services process data only as needed to provide their functionality and do not receive identifying information about you.
The app may request access to your camera and photo library. These permissions are used solely to let you take or select photos of your mahjong tiles for Nai Nai to analyze. Photos are processed in real time and are not stored.
East Wind is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Since we do not store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data to request, modify, or delete. Your local conversation history can be cleared at any time within the app. You can delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
